Quick answer: psyrenne backs up your data several times a day and keeps copies in more than one place, including off-site. Your data is encrypted on its way to and from us, your password is stored scrambled so nobody can read it, and each member’s data is kept separate. If something ever breaks, we restore it from a backup and tell you plainly what happened.
Your scripts, samples, sales, and calendar are hours of your work. Here’s how we look after them, in plain English. (The legal version lives in our Privacy Policy.)
Backups: more than one copy, in more than one place
- Several times a day, psyrenne saves a copy of everything: your data, every member’s data, and Tide Pool.
- Every night, an encrypted copy goes to separate cloud storage, away from the servers that run the app. If one place has a very bad day, another copy is safe somewhere else.
- The website is backed up every hour.
- We test our backups. A backup nobody has ever restored is a hope, not a backup, so every few months we practice restoring one on a test copy.
Backups are kept for up to 30 days, then erased on a rolling schedule. Everything is stored in the United States.
Keeping your data private
- Encrypted connections: everything between your phone or computer and psyrenne travels encrypted (that’s the padlock in your browser).
- Scrambled passwords: your password is stored scrambled (hashed), so no one at psyrenne can read it. Not even Billie.
- Your own space: each member’s data is stored separately. Other members never see your scripts, sales, samples, or contacts. Tide Pool is the one shared space, and you choose what you post there.
- Tide Pool photos: when you share a photo, psyrenne removes the hidden location and camera details before saving it.
- Restricted access: only the people who run psyrenne can reach its systems, and their passwords and keys are kept in a password manager.
- No selling your data. Ever. That’s not our business model.
If something goes wrong
We have a written recovery plan for the things nobody wants to happen: a host outage, a bad update, an accidental delete, or someone trying to break in. Here’s what you’ll see:
- During an update (usually about a minute), the app shows a “We’re adding something new” page that reloads itself when it’s ready. You don’t need to do anything.
- If the app is down longer than 30 minutes, we post an update in Tide Pool and on our socials.
- If data is damaged or lost, we restore it from the most recent good backup, check it on a test copy first, and email anyone affected: what happened, what (if anything) was lost, and what we did about it.
- If a breach affects your personal information, we tell you within 72 hours of confirming it, and sooner if the law requires.
No system is perfect, and we won’t pretend ours is. What we can promise is that we plan for problems, we fix them fast, and we’re honest with you when they happen.
What you can do
- Use a password you don’t use anywhere else, and keep it in a password manager.
- Sign out on shared or borrowed computers.
- Before posting a photo in Tide Pool, check it for addresses on shipping labels and other people’s faces.
- Spot something odd, like a sign-in you don’t recognize? Email policies@psyrenne.com right away.
